Amulya Yadav is an assistant professor in the College of Information Sciences and Technology at Penn State University, where he directs the RAISE (Responsible Artificial Intelligence for Social Emancipation) Research Lab. He is also the associate director of programs at the Center for Socially Responsible Artificial Intelligence (CSRAI) at Penn State. His research interests include artificial intelligence for social good, fairness and interpretability in machine learning, applied machine learning, and computational game theory. His work in the field of artificial intelligence for social good focuses on developing theoretically grounded approaches to real-world problems that can have an impact in the field. His algorithms have been deployed in the real world, particularly in the fields of public health and wildlife protection.  

Amulya’s work has been covered by the New York Times, New York Post, Reuters, Bloomberg News, Vice, ThePrint, and other outlets. He is also a recipient of numerous awards, including Best Paper Runner-Up at the International Conference on Machine Learning 2021 Workshop, the Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS) 2016 Best Student Paper Award, the AAMAS 2017 Best Paper Nomination, and the Issues with Deployment of Emerging Agent-based Systems 2016 Most Visionary Paper Award. Amulya holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Southern California and a BTech in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna.
