The AAMC Center for Health Justice, founded in 2021, seeks to spark, support, and contribute to community-driven, multisector efforts that build evidence for programs, policies, practices, and collaborations that promote health equity.
The Center invites applicants to join the second cohort of its Multisector Partner Group and seeks up to 10 new members from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and sectors — including and beyond health care and academic medicine — to serve a three-year term beginning in March 2025. The Center for Health Justice accepts applications from individuals or from organizations. Applicants may represent more than one sector. Sectors may include but are not limited to:
Group members will use their expertise and leadership to shape the Center’s strategy, inform its programs, and develop collaborations. The Center is focused on using its cross-sector collaboration to address the complex constellation of social and political factors that contribute to health inequities.
"The Multisector Partner Group has allowed me to connect with experts across a diverse range of sectors that impact community health and to learn from each other."

About the Group
The second cohort of the Multisector Partner Group will include national leaders, local leaders from community-based organizations, and community organizers from a variety of sectors that represent the wide-ranging social and political determinants of health. Together with the Center’s staff and collaborators, they will work to improve the health of people and communities everywhere by building authentic collaborations and an aligned agenda for better health, ensuring all voices in a community are heard. The Center and its Multisector Partner Group reflect the AAMC’s community-collaborations mission area.
The Experience
The Multisector Partner Group will convene with the Center’s staff at least monthly, and most meetings will occur virtually. Members should anticipate dedicating up to five hours per month for meetings, related pre- and post-work, and programmatic activities. Meeting topics and activities may include but are not limited to the Center’s goals and focus areas, and how the Multisector Partner Group can contribute to and help shape them; relationship building among group members and Center staff; understanding the group members’ sectors and cultures; exploring how to work cohesively as one group over a three-year period; codeveloping projects and programs; and contributing to activities such as producing strategy, policy comment letters, and national polling research. Some activities may be intermittent and ad hoc, while the timing of other activities is cyclical and may be more predictable.
Role and Expectations
The Center aims to convene leaders who provide varying perspectives based on wide-ranging lived and professional experiences, represent one or more of society’s sectors, and have experiences cocreating with communities. Specifically, members will agree to terms in a Consulting Agreement and a Statement of Work and are expected to:
- Attend an all-day in-person convening in Washington, D.C., on April, 11, 2025, with members from the first and second Multisector Partner Group cohorts, and a dinner on April 10.
- Attend one-to-two-hour monthly virtual meetings on the second Monday of each month.
- Dedicate up to five hours per month to meetings, related pre- and post-work, and programmatic activities, beginning in March 2025.
- Serve as a thought leader and contribute to the Center’s strategy, programs, and collaboration-building work.
- Amplify communications about health equity, health justice, and the Center’s work with their organization’s networks. The Center can also amplify the work of the Multisector Partner Group members’ organizations.
- Consider additional voluntary opportunities that may include but are not limited to reviewing grant applications, speaking engagements, and providing input on the Center’s briefs and reports.
Benefits to Membership
Members of the Multisector Partner Group will be compensated with a stipend of $6,000 per year for each of the three years of service. Other potential benefits may include but are not limited to expanding members’ professional networks, contributing to leading-edge national-level activities, collaborating with colleagues across sectors and cultures, and developing new and different knowledge, skills, and abilities.
“Serving in this group has expanded my voice and work within health care law and policy related to ensuring that all may thrive. Sometimes, people with disabilities have been absent from work related to disparities or inequities. I have considered serving on the Multisector Partner Group to be an honor and a great responsibility to ensure that people with disabilities are part of the conversation.”
— Gary C. Norman, JD, LLM
Co-chair of Advisors at Pieces of Me Foundation and current Multisector Partner Group member
