Allan Fong, MS
Allan Fong, MS, is a senior research scientist with the National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare as well as the data science lead at the MedStar Center for Biostatistics, Informatics, and Data Science at MedStar Health Research Institute. Allan focuses on developing, integrating, and applying advanced technologies and techniques to study and improve health care systems. His background is in human factors, engineering, and computer science, and he has research interests in information synthesis, visualization, and modeling of human cognition and behavior. Allan has extensive experience applying neural networks, machine learning, and natural language processing techniques to large patient safety and clinical datasets to develop robust models and has led over fifteen peer-reviewed publications addressing the applications of machine learning and natural language processing in health care applications. Allan received a master of science in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a second master of science in computer science from University of Maryland College Park, and a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Columbia University. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children and cooking.
