Mariam Aydoun
Community Activist, Washington, D.C.
Mariam is a single parent and a community activist. Originally from Morocco, she made Washington, D.C., her home for a decade, during which time she developed a strong sentiment of belonging to the district and its unique culture. With a professional background in hospitality and entertainment, Mariam was one of the many workers deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led her to face housing and food insecurity while she was pregnant. During a time of need, Mariam understood the importance and the power of the community to keep the most vulnerable people safe and vowed to dedicate her free time to advocate for the causes that personally matter to her and her neighbors.
